It’s beginning to look a lot like…THE HOLIDAY SEASON! There is no better to ring in the start of season with a cozy home full of DIY holiday decor. Whose Your Landlord has 9 ways to make your spirits (and home) bright!
Wine Bottle Candle Holders
Instead of recycling empty wine bottles, remodel them as holiday candle holders! Simply spray paint them a shimmery silver color, tie a decorative bow around the neck of the bottle, and put a small votive candle on top of the opening.
Felt Poinsettia
These are the only flowers that you don’t need a green thumb to maintain! Felt Poinsettias can be a great embellishment to anything: table decor, an ornament, and even to replace a bow on a present. Follow directions here to make your own!
Fake Fireplace
No fireplace, so the stockings can’t be hung by the chimney with care? That is a simple fix with a simple wall chalkboard decal. Draw your very own fireplace with so realistic guests will think chestnuts are roasting on this open fire.
Picture Wreaths
There’s no better way to spread joy from holidays’ past than with a wreath made of pictures! Back your pictures with decorative cardstock, and using a hot glue gun, attach them to a grapevine wreath.
Holiday Shakers
Bring a winter wonderland straight to the kitchen table. To transform a salt shaker into a snow globe for a gift or decorations, follow these instructions.
Pringles Can cookie holder
A DIY alternative to a cookie jar or a great way to give homemade cookies in a homemade container. Simply clean out a Pringles can and decorate the outside however you would like- wrapping paper, felt, and construction paper are just a few idea! Put in the cookies, and tie a ribbon around the top for a simple finish.
Acorn Garland
Want to make a decoration you will be absolutely nuts about? To make acorn garland, first paint the acorns a color of your choice. Drill a hole through the center of each acorn, and then put either string or yarn through the hole. The acorn garland will then be able to be wrapped around the tree, staircase railing, or mantle!
Light Bulb Ornaments
Instead of tossing dead lightbulbs, repurpose them into decorations! Paint the bulb with acrylic paint and apply gems of your choosing. Loop a piece of wire through the base of the lightbulb and tie a decorative ribbon to the wire so that you can now hang your masterpiece.
Scrabble Holiday Messages
This one is easy- as long as you have the classic Scrabble and a glue gun. Simply spell out your holiday message and glue them together. For a wintery touch, add ‘snow’ to the top of each letter. To make the snow, use either white glitter, cotton balls, or mix coarse salt and glitter.
