Making Upgrades To Your Rental

Making upgrades to your rental definitely isn't the first thing on your mind, especially between work, school, family, relationships, and a little thing called a social life. If you own a rental property, it can be easy to let the upkeep of that space fall to the wayside. Doing so, however, can be detrimental to your renters, your status as a landlord, and your overall investment. Give your rental a facelift with these upgrades that won't break the bank.

Make paint your favorite

Painting becomes extremely affordable when you do it yourself. Hiring a professional to do so can save you time and effort, but ultimately, it's going to cost you. If you have absolutely no faith in your ability to paint the walls and feel like hiring someone could save you money in the long run (see spilling cans of paint everywhere), then by all means, call in the pros. With a little patience and the right tools, you can transform the appearance of your rental property with a fresh coat of paint. Skim through Pinterest or any home styling magazine (Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, HGTV, to name a few) to find inspiration on color schemes. Then, head to your local hardware store and talk with an associate. You might be surprised at the ways in which your conversation with "the guy at Home Depot" can spark your ambition to paint! If you're renting a space where changing the colors of the walls isn't allowed, get creative with the ways in which you inject color. Install temporary wallpaper that's safe and won't damage the structure of the wall. Install colorful pieces of artwork and mirrors to manipulate the space into appearing like it's covered in color.
These surprisingly affordable ways will spruce up the look and feel of your space and ultimately attract more renters! Happy landlording!
