Stay Informed: Your Comprehensive Guide to Staying Safe During COVID-19

The COVID-19 epidemic has hit our country and the world. As we navigate these difficult and unprecedented times, it's important to get the most accurate and up to date information. Local and federal governments are working together to keep everyone safe and it's paramount that we all do our part and follow the instructions we're being given. We all need to do our part to flatten the curve and slow the spread of the Coronavirus disease.

We want to do our part to keep our community safe so we're bringing you accurate and up-to-date updates on information and helpful resources you can use to traverse this challenging time.

New York State (37,258):

  • New York State on PAUSE: 100% of the workforce must stay home, excluding essential services.
  • All non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason are temporarily banned.
  • New Yorkers can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314 for mental health counseling.
  • New York City will pilot closing streets to vehicles and opening them to pedestrians as part of the city's plan to address the lack of adherence to social distancing protocols.
  • 40,000 healthcare workers, including retirees and students, have signed up to volunteer to work as part of the state's surge healthcare force during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Department of Motor Vehicles offices are temporarily closed for in-office visits. Online transactions, including license renewals, are still available. License and permit expirations will be extended.
  • All non-essential businesses statewide must close in-office personnel functions until further notice as part of New York State on PAUSE. Bars and restaurants are closed, but takeout can be ordered during the period of closure.
  • Testing is free for all eligible New Yorkers as ordered by a health care provider.
  • Your local health department is your community contact for COVID-19 concerns.

Michigan (2,856)

  • Michigan has issued a “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order mandating the temporary suspension of all non-essential in-person businesses and operations for a three week period.
  • All Michiganders must stay in their homes unless deemed a part of a critical infrastructure workforce, engaged in an outdoor activity, or performing tasks necessary to the health and safety of themselves or their families (e.g. going to the hospital or grocery store).

Washington (2,580)

  • Washington State has authorized a Stay at Home, Stay Healthy order effective for a minimum of two weeks. The order requires every Washingtonian to stay at home, except for people that fall under essential categories.
  • All grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, food supply chains and other things necessary for continued operations will remain open.
  • All gatherings of people for social, spiritual and recreational purposes are prohibited. This applies to both private and public gatherings which include everything from sleepovers for children to weddings and funerals. All of these types of events must be postponed for public health and safety.
  • All businesses, except for essential businesses. Businesses that can operate using telework should continue to do so. For businesses where individuals cannot work from home, the Governor’s Office has provided guidance on what businesses are essential, building on the federal government’s and California’s definition of "essential critical infrastructure workers." To clarify status, or request inclusion on the list, please fill out this form. Businesses and entities that provide other essential services must implement rules that help facilitate social distancing of at least 6 feet.
  • To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, all campsites, roofed accommodations (such as cabins, yurts and vacation houses), group camps and day-use facilities are closed through April 30, 2020.   • All individuals living in the State of California are ordered to stay home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors
  • Call your local public health department to be evaluated for testing.
